  • OPENING WORDS
    ROBYN GEORGE AND GRANTHAM GREEN
  • BLAH BLAH BLAH
Lily Rogers @lilyrogers.26 @hi_this_is_my_art Linked-in "Hi there! I am Lily Rogers, a current sophomore at UW Madison studying Fashion and Textiles Design as well as Sustainability. I grew up in Cedarburg, Wisconsin with a passion for hand-crafting and the outdoors. Coming from an artistic family of six, I have always been driven by the idea of community, the environment, and utilizing the resources that I have at my disposal. The Vulcan, inspired by the architectural composure of UW Madison’s Observatory Building, challenges the juxtaposition of structure and fluidity. By marrying elements of the buildings’ history and form, each piece carries a relevance to the buildings’ backstory. This collection manipulates a variety of fabrics, deconstructed garments, hand-painted canvas, metal, and belts to echo its message. A name for a conspiracized planet disproved by the UW telescope, and a title for the Greek god of fire and forge, this is The Vulcan."

  • VAILLIENCORP
IAN VAILLIENCOURT Portfolio @ianvailliencourt @vailliencorp Linked-in My name is Ian Vailliencourt, I am a fashion designer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin with an emphasis on bringing everyday apparel into the high-fashion world, and creating long-lasting garments that adapt to the wearer’s lifestyle. I discovered my love for fashion as a sophomore in high school when I began screen printing, embroidery and sewing. I now release clothing through my own label; Vailliencorp, and am excited to share my thesis collection: "Wired." My thesis collection; "Wired," is inspired by two key themes, and interpreted through construction and textiles. The first theme is that of wearable technology, and its potential implications for the future of clothing. The idea came to me after seeing the Apple Vision Pro, and what it could mean for everyday wearers of this product. I decided to design an apparel collection that could exist within this future, but primarily through the use of textiles instead of metal and hardware. The second key thematic component of this collection comments on the consistent timelines and deadlines within fashion, and how following a biannual release schedule may leave designers feeling uninspired and constantly forced to innovate without true passion behind large quantities of work. I simulated this element through my use of chaos and deliberate messiness in some aspects of my garments. This theme coupled with the technological themes to create an overall visually stimulating and well curated collection, and I am proud to say that it is my best work to date.
  • EDEN
EDEN MEIDL Portfolio @edenmeidl Linked-in I’m a Senior studying Textiles and Fashion Design with an intense background in Fine Arts. I am from Madison, WI and am extremely excited to be partaking in my first ever runway show as a designer. My collection aims to incorporate traditional silhouettes and construction of both men’s and women’s wear into a single style meant to be worn without gender. I prioritize enhancing androgyny through sophisticated patterning, detailed sketching and structured design. The collection showcases hand embellishments and slow-process pieces highlighting this time-based craft.
  • INDECENT BY OLIVE
OLIVE BOTÉ Portfolio @o1iviacore @badartisg0odart Linked-in I’m a sophomore pursuing a Textile and Fashion Design major and Mathematics certificate. I am from Middleton, WI and proudly rep Madison as my home! With a background in fiber arts and freelance commissions, I am most excited by textures and volume. This fall I will be studying abroad in Florence, Italy and am excited to hone my patternmaking and illustration skills. Indecent. A loud, flamboyant, unflinching collection celebrating the queer identity in all its forms. A love letter to my friends. A thank you to the 14 year old admins running gay Instagram accounts when I was in middle school. A warm hug for myself. “Indecent” is a four look collection juxtaposing innocence and repressed creativity with self-expression and exploration. Two looks are all white, textured with lace, gathers, and gritty accessories. The other two mix reds and blacks with plaids, leather, and metal. “Indecent” is a heartfelt nod and blown kiss to the queer community for our resilience, creativity, and authenticity.

  • nina.
NINA CRULL Portfolio @ninasgall3ry Linked-in Hello! My name is Nina Crull and I am from McFarland, WI. Growing up around here, I always loved going to Badger game days and soon fell in love with UW-Madison’s campus. I’m currently majoring in Fashion Design, with a Certificate in Business and plan to spend my senior year at the Fashion Institute of Technology, pursuing their Fashion Business Management shared student program. My dream is to one day start my own sustainable brand and open a storefront boutique where I can also give other artists a place to sell their work. The digitally woven sweatshirt seen in the show is part of a mini collection that explores sustainable practices through handmade techniques, rather than turning to mass production to curate style. As someone with an interest in sustainable apparel, but maximalist tendencies, I wanted to see if there was a way to have both. That is where the collection Maximalist Sustainability was born. The look seen today focuses on drafting patterns through weaving, to minimize fabric waste.
  • MATTHEW LYGA
MATTHEW LYGA Portfolio @roachieq Matthew Lyga is a Madison based designer and student studying Textile and Fashion Design at UW Madison. • GRACIE HARSHAW
GRACIE HARSHAW @luckygrlgracie I’m a senior currently pursuing a Textile and Fashion Design major after transferring from the Arts department. I’m from La Crosse, WI and have been so charmed by Madison. I have always loved creating and am very grateful to be able to spend my time doing so. She’s getting married! Her party will be lavish and lovely and empty of expectations. This collection evokes a feeling of play and lust; adoration for the hidden. An invitation to dance encumbered by the weight of fabric and regulation. The stripped down opulence provokes those who regard modesty as a virtue rather than an option. And as the righteous may choke on their wine at the first glance of under the petticoat, I implore you to raise yours to celebrate the bride and her swanky and sexy party.
  • YAZ
YASMIN HILL @yazzzified @yasminnhill Linked-in I am a junior Textiles and Fashion Design major from Westchester, New York. My designs take heavy inspiration the patterns and color palettes found in my Moroccan culture, as well as themes from my childhood. This collection explores the boundless creativity housed within minds of our inner child. Tapping into this part of ourselves is a healing, nostalgic process and is vital to self-expression.

ATHEA BAKKEN Portfolio @atheamakes Linked-in My name is Athea Bakken, I grew up here in Madison, Wi. I am currently a junior at the university of Madison-Wisconsin, studying Fashion and Textile Design and Environmental Studies. From my great-grandmothers, esteemed quilters on both sides, I inherit a tradition steeped in honor and devotion. Their quilts, crafted with meticulous care and profound affection, epitomized patience and love. Tenderly bestowed upon newlyweds, birthday celebrants, and newborns, these quilts were cherished until threadbare from use. My forthcoming collection is an ode to this legacy, a celebration of love, patience, and life's cyclical nature. Like the tradition of quilts, it embraces diverse elements to create harmonious wholes. PatchLore is about the profound interconnectedness of humanity, emphasizing the enduring beauty of unity amidst diverse fabrics and narratives. The garments of the collection have a clean and practical cut that is ready to be worn for multiple generations to come. Practical, beautiful, limitless.
